Remembrance Day is a time to remember those who have given the supreme sacrifice for their country. The grade 4 and 5 class from Sacred Heart school participated in the Remembrance Day ceremony held at the cenotaph at Hollinger Park. The students made personalized wreaths to give to the numerous soldiers, veterans and family members who were present during the ceremony. There was a very touching moment where Macy Gauthier noticed a soldier on crutches standing off to the side. He was a young soldier who had recently returned from his tour due to an injury in the field. She approached him and his family with much pride in her heart. She spoke with the soldier and thanked him from the bottom of her heart. The mother of the soldier started crying tears of joy because she was so touched by this simple gesture. The soldier took the wreath from Macy and thanked her graciously. There were tears in everyone’s eyes as they surrounded us. It really goes to show that the most simple of gestures really does have a great affect on people. This will forever be a moment in her life where she was able to thank someone for the gift of freedom.Sacred Heart School Students at Remembrance Day Ceremony
