Sacred Heart School Celebrates Shrove Tuesday! - 2017-03-02
Today is what some refer to as Shrove Tuesday (Mardi Gras). In medieval times, the period between the Epiphany and Lent was generally a time of great festivity. This culminated on the eve of Lent in a carnival atmosphere. Since the time of fasting was about to begin, the forbidden foods had to be used up so they didn’t spoil. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, a day on which we abstain from meat and begin our Lenten journey. We pray today that this journey will bring each of us closer to God. Below, the school community enjoy pancakes to start off the school day. Sacred Heart School Celebrates Shrove Tuesday Picture
