Privacy Policy

The Northeastern Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and all applicable privacy legislation.

We recognize that personal information entrusted to us by students, parents, guardians, staff, and community members must be handled with care, integrity, and transparency.

NCDSB collects personal information only as authorized under the Education Act and related regulations. This information is collected to:

  • Support student learning, well-being, and safety
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
  • Administer educational programs and services
  • Meet legal and reporting requirements

Personal information may be collected directly from the individual or indirectly through authorized sources such as schools, government agencies, or third-party partners as permitted by law.


Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

Personal information is used strictly for the purposes for which it was collected or for a consistent purpose as permitted by law. We may disclose information to:

  • The Ontario Ministry of Education and other government authorities as required
  • School boards, post-secondary institutions, or agencies involved in student support and transition
  • Third-party service providers under contract with the Board who adhere to strict confidentiality requirements

NCDSB does not sell, lease, or trade personal information.

We take appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. Staff who handle personal information receive regular training on privacy obligations and data protection practices.


Access and Correction

Individuals have the right to request access to their personal information held by the Board and to request corrections if they believe there is an error or omission.

When you visit the NCDSB website, limited information such as your IP address, browser type, and date/time of access may be collected for security and analytics purposes.
