Our Values Through Transparency and Accountability
The Board of Trustees at the Northeastern Catholic District School Board plays a vital role in the leadership and governance of Catholic education across our communities.
Catholic school trustees in Ontario are elected representatives who serve as the link between the community and the school board. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that all decisions reflect the values of Catholic education, meet the needs of students and families, and align with the expectations of the Ministry of Education. Working collaboratively with the Director of Education, they help shape system priorities, approve budgets, and ensure that schools remain places where faith, learning, and belonging thrive.

- Establishing policies that govern the operation of the board
- Setting strategic direction through the Multi-Year Strategic Plan
- Approving budgets and ensuring responsible financial stewardship
- Promoting and protecting the distinctiveness of Catholic education
- Advocating for quality, equity, and student well-being in all board decisions
- The Director of Education’s annual appraisal
