As Remembrance Day approaches, our Catholic School Board joins communities across Northeastern Ontario in honouring the courage, service, and sacrifice of the men and women who have served Canada in times of war, conflict and peacekeeping.
Each year on November 11, we pause to remember — not only those who gave their lives, but also those who continue to serve with dedication and faith. In our Catholic tradition, remembrance is more than an act of reflection; it is an expression of gratitude and a call to work toward a world rooted in peace, justice, and hope.
As a Catholic learning community, we are deeply committed to fostering peace through education, understanding, and compassion. On this Remembrance Day, we remember with gratitude, we pray for peace in our world, and we recommit ourselves to being peacemakers in our homes, schools, and communities.
Tricia Weltz – Director of Education
Throughout our schools, students and staff will take part in ceremonies, prayer services, and classroom discussions that focus on the themes of peace, sacrifice, and reconciliation.
This Gospel message reminds us that the selflessness shown by those who served is a powerful witness to love — the same love to which Christ calls each of us.
Tricia Weltz, Director of Education states, “As a Catholic learning community, we are deeply committed to fostering peace through education, understanding, and compassion. On this Remembrance Day, we remember with gratitude, we pray for peace in our world, and we recommit ourselves to being peacemakers in our homes, schools, and communities.”
Lest we forget.
May we always remember them in our prayers — and work together for the peace they hoped to build.
